🌐 What is Murmur?

Murmur is a mesh messaging app for when the internet is blocked or unavailable. Messages spread directly from phone to phone using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

⬇️ Install & Setup

1. INSTALL — Open the APK and allow “Install unknown apps” if prompted
2. ENABLE — In Settings, toggle Enable Murmur on
3. PERMISSIONS — Allow Bluetooth/Nearby + Location when asked

✨ How It Works

1. WRITE — Compose a short message (140 characters)
2. SHARE — Use Quick Share/Bluetooth to spread the app to trusted people
3. WALK — Move around your city or village
4. SPREAD — When near another Murmur user (10-100m), phones automatically exchange messages
5. REPEAT — That person shares your message with others they meet

🔒 Privacy & Safety

📱 App Features

Feed — Messages from nearby users

Trust Bars — Green (friend), Yellow (neutral), Red (unknown)

Trust Score — Estimated from friend connections; affects message prioritization

Heart ❤️ — Marks a message you like (affects sorting/filtering only)

Friends — Use BLE pairing to add friends. Both people must be nearby (~10m), exchange 6-digit codes, and verify visually. This ensures friends are real people you meet in person — an adversary cannot add you remotely.

Share Murmur (offline) — Send the APK via Quick Share/Bluetooth or local network

🔧 Troubleshooting

"No peers nearby"

• Ensure Bluetooth & Wi-Fi are ON
• Grant Location permission
• Check "Enable Murmur" in Settings

"Messages not sending"

• Be patient! Messages spread as people move
• It may take hours to cross a city
